I have absolutely no time for contemporary republicanism. By the
standards of the Geneva accords, international law, at its most
accepted and basic, the IRA were a murderously criminal agency or
organization. I have spent the last eight years working electorally
for the political party that founded the state of Northern
Ireland. The parachute regiment had a reputation for wanton murder
before they were sent to Derry. That is the simple truth of it.
