So, getting back to the question I aked you which you ignored:
You want Cruise to put on a silly pantomime accent and say things
like:
"vee haff vays und meens of makink you talk, no? ha ha ha ha (evil
laugh)"?

Simple answer: "yes"... If he's pretending to be a german, he should at least
try and convince the audience... You watched all the war movies made in the
'70s the actors at least tried to make it believable!

Germans speak German, and when Germans speak German they don't do it with a foreign accent, they do it with the accent appropriate to their class, origins or education. To a German, a Hamburg skanger will sound much like a Limerick skanger does to Irish people, for instance. There is no way to communicate this appropriately by the actors using 'German' accents while speaking English. In the film about Alexander the Great, they used Irish actors and accents to portray the Macedonians as hairy-arsed boggers, which is what they were to the Greeks, but if they all simply spoke like Zorba this distinction would have been lost.
In this film, all the characters are German, that is established and understood, so there is no need to make the baddies wear black and speak with a stupid accent so the idiots can tell who is who. No German I have ever met has ever spoken like those in films.
