Boston city centre looks and feels like Swansea, which is a good
thing, because I like Swansea.

The people of Boston remind me of Paris, only with less Americans.
The Brazilian taxi driver tells me that I need to go elsewhere to find
Americans, Boston is international, he says.

These Americans, they don't look like Americans - so exactly who were
these imposters foisted on us by Bord Failte all this time, what
planet where they really from?  Sitting on the commuter trains,
watching the people, without the clues from the advertising, there is
no way to know whether the train is heading for Paris, London or
Boston.  The only way to be sure is all the Irish with that House of
Pain thing with the beards and hats.

Quincy is Rathmines, culchies and all.

Everything is made from high fructose corn syrup, with sugar on top.
Even the kids are finding it hard going, and they like sugar.

A&W Cream Soda with vanilla is gorgeous, and explains what our
'American Cream Soda' has been trying to do all these years.  A&W Root
Beer on the other hand, and speaking as someone who loves ginger, is a
sorry disappointment - unless you like the smell of Germolene so much
that you might also like the taste of it too.

Why are they so preoccupied with witches in Salem - the one place
where there weren't any?

The USA is not a young country, it's OLD, as constituted it's older
than most.  It would be difficult to find graveyards with recognisable
markings from the 1600s in Ireland, but they are all over the place
here, and overall things are getting a bit, well, tatty.

It took me a few minutes to realise that the nasty old queen on telly
was the Bill O'Reilly so dear to Ray's heart, but only a few moments
to realise that Fox News is not news as we understand the term - it's
worrying that so many people might be taken in by such transparent
tosh.

Micheal Moore's 'Mike's Election Guide 2008' is hilarious and about
the only sign of the election to be seen around here.

That globalisation is ubiquitous may well be a tautology but not only
are so many things on sale the same all over the world, they are also
the same price.  I see that from today the Boston Globe now features a
G section - now where have I seen that before?

The Museum of Science is brilliant, but the Cheesecake Factory around
the corner isn't.

i hope you enjoy your visit to my fair city.
if you have a few minutes the small free museum of bad art in dedhan
center is funny. it takes just a few minutes and ron's gourmet ice
cream is across the street.,
if you like sea food go to the "no name" restaurant on the fish pier
in boston. you won't get fresher or better fish anywhere.
