if you take an old vynl record and record it to a CD you get a digital
reproduction.


But your missing the point... The records of old records on Youtube are
not
enhanced or "fixed" as they used to tell us... Not "enhanced"... It's
not a
"studio recording"... It's just a recording by a fella playing his old
record
player... All the hisses... skips... and the rest are there just as
they
should be in a record... Just a copy of the old raw, record as it is,
and as
it's best heard...

no matter what the original source is.

it has nothing to do with studio or enhancing. its the fact of digital
recording which is what youtube does.
and it is the way your computer will play it back.
there is no way to get around that fact.

to get an analog playback you need an analog player youtube is digital,
computers are digital.
its not what was recorded but how it was recorded
youtube records digitally.

girls, so for once I'm going to stick up for Cantillon and tell you that
you are completely wrong here. Your confusion is down to not knowing the
difference between a digital recording and the compressed and filtered
sound you hear on a CD. Assuming a high enough bitrate, a digitised
recording of a vinyl record will be a very accurate reproduction, hisses
and pops, crackles and clicks and all. It will be indistinguishable from
the original. The mistake that sound engineers made when setting the
standards for CD was to decide to exclude those frequencies that cannot be
heard and that was how they managed to lose the warmth and essential
'feel' of analogue. An unfiltered digital recording however will contain
all those upper and lower frequencies and will be the same as analogue,
but it's seldom that a digitised vinyl recording will be as good in its
raw state as after applying some compression and loudness effects anyway.


hisses and pops. are just recorded by the digital recorder.
anything recorded to a digital medium becomes a digital recording.and
youtube is not a high quality recorder or player.
it doesn't even come close to the fidelity of a CD never mind an analog
recording
there is no way past that .
