2. On the 26th November, 1911, three men were hanged at Greenberry Hill in
London after being convicted of the murder of Sir Edmund Berry Godfrey.
The
killers names were Robert Green, Henry Berry and Lawrence Hill.
Having looked at this one in Wiki, I find that the evidence on which they
were convicted was later recanted and shown to be false. So while it might
have been a coincidence, it might have been nothing of the kind. It's quite
possible that the man being interrogated for the murder just plucked three
names from the air and the authorities rounded them up accordingly. There
must have been plenty of Greens, Berrys and Hills in London. The whole thing
was part of Titus Oates anti-Catholic campaign.
It's 1679, btw, not 1911.
