Given the historic lack of anything close to real taste in Rock & Roll
displayed in this group, this is probably a fools errand. But, hope
springs eternal, so here it is. I caught The Subways last night at The
Crocodile. It was the last night of their first North American tour.
THEY ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, they are very nice people. They
made a big fuss over my daughter and her friends (they're all
thirteen-fourteen - like that). Like I said, nice folks. On stage, they
were caged lightening. The whole place was hopping, which actually
takes a decent band in this town. After all, The Croc has seen them all
-Nirvana, Vedder, Alice in Chains....the list goes on and on. Sort of a
West Coast CBGB's, but with a late eighties lineage rather than late
seventies. Anyway, they kicked ass and took names and they're coming to
a country near you. Scotland, England, France, and then England. I
think the first set of UK dates are all in the next couple of weeks.
So, if you're able you should get there. Its a rare chance to catch a
great band in a small venue at a very accesible point in their career.

Wow, it sounds like you all had a great time. I have to point out that
taking your teen and her friends to a concert is a sure sign that you've
firmly landed in middle age. ;)

Don't I know it. Hell, I knew before she was born. I was first wave
punk and that was only in the face of fading metal and rising disco.
Caught the grunge scene largely because I was working for high end hi
fi company at the time, but I was already past my prime when Nirvana
played the Croc. Now, with Cailey, I'm painfully aware that I'm going
down for the third time. However, I must point out that this does not
excuse the widespread weakness, decrepitude, and nihilistic acceptance
of fate that others display through their consistent absence. If I can
do a Green Day concert and still walk into a trial court the next
morning, the least the rest of you can do is show up for drill at a
small venue in a country near you.
