*'Agitprop' said Danny Morrison.

Fact is when Loyalists and Republicans use propaganda and accusations they
rarely stand up but that's not the point. It's like the 'magic passport'
of 911 it only has to be used once, the allegation's made and the
association formed never to be repeated again though never needed to be,
it's stuck in the mind.

Fact is if you want statistics, then British government, Army or PSNI
stats do tally with serious independence research, with different surveys
a wandering of a few points is considered normal.

For excellent information Cain which of course is run by the Stormont set
up and government maintained University of Ulster and generally thought of
as preferable to the Sinn Fein outlets.

And of course the 'state sponsored mouth piece' the BBC (God bless her)
has had some serious documentaries from the likes of Peter Taylor and
others which have played their part in reopening investigations from
Bloody Sunday to Stephen's.

Now when SF do make allegations they can be fairly investigated by that
another government sponsored office the Ombudsman, which has proved itself
to unbiased in the past and is regarded by many PSNI as biased against
them.

One good example might be the storming of SF offices in Stormont. SF
alleged that it was a political publicity stunt, the media was tipped off,
the SPG was used to heighten the effect, the number of PSNI used was
unwarrented, SF were temporarily barred from their own office, police
brutality was employed and overall it was without justification.

Upon investigation she revealed that there was no evidence whatsoever on
either the police or UTV side that anyone was tipped off. She was shown
the evidence from the previous SF house search that did warrant further
investigation in the Stormont office which also had to done quickly, which
is why the SPG were used since they were operating in Belfast at the time.

It was right that no-one was allowed into the office which of course could
destroy or remove evidence.

The alleged police brutality (which both sides use persistently for
everything) was not borne out subsequent medical examination.

The only criticism given by her was that the size of the operation was
unwarranted. Which I myself thought looked suspect at the time but I'm
glad SF asked her to investigate.

All in all the all governments have an open channel to the media mainly
because they being accountable are more open to investigation when they do
lie and often it's the media that exposes them too, BBC included.

The Gibraltar documentary being another good example and the battle
between the so-called mouthpiece and the government itself.

You're right though the government like all others do employ propaganda,
sometimes misleading statements, sometimes downright lies but that's the
game which SF are normally the keenest player, why complain?

As far going back to the 20's a Lord someoneorother down south began
compiling lists of crimes by Republicans against unionists which he
believed the government and the British media was ignoring at the time.
For producing pamphlets his house was bombed by Republicans, clearly they
liked to hold onto the game themselves. I can search and show his findings
if you wish.
