powerhouse..lots of new construction, trade, even tourism. basra is
growing while bagdad is shrinking,

basra has always been an economic powerhouse (until sadam arrived)

baghdad has always been a political powerhouse (even the Americans can't
subdue it...yet...maybe another 17 years is required)

like new york compared to Washington
