Iraq: Despite "Crackdown" US Occupiers Bogged Down

Baghdad, Aug 24 (Prensa Latina) Two US soldiers killed in the past
few hours and four car bomb explosions in the capital show that the
anti-rebel operation "Together Forward" has failed.

Although 67,000 troops are patrolling the streets, the Central
Command admitted on Thursday that the Iraqi resistance had killed two
of its soldiers in separate actions.

The United States has lost 2,611 soldiers, most of them killed by the
resistance, since the war began in Iraq in March 2003.

The Iraqi Interior Minister reported on Thursday that the insurgents
had blown up three cars in the Baghdad sectors of Jedida, Adhamiyah
and Zeyunah.

In Al Rashad, in the eastern part of the capital, two police officers
were wounded when the resistance detonated an explosive-laden car.

Col. Hussein Abdel Wahed Gadua, police chief in the Baghdad district
of Rasafa, escaped unharmed from an attack on Thursday, when the
rebels detonated a car as Wahed´s caravan was passing by, killing
five of his bodyguards.

In the northern village of Balad, four police were killed when a
rebel commando riddled them with bullets.

The two latter actions are part of a guerrilla tactic to harass those
who collaborate with the US invaders.
