Muslims need independent judiciary system

Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel in Tehran Thursday stressed the
importance of establishing an independent Islamic judiciary system in
the Islamic world.

Haddad-Adel was speaking on the second day of the first conference of
the prosecutors of capitals of Islamic countries, opened in Tehran
Wednesday.

He added that Muslims have no wrath and enmity towards other nations.
Muslims do not intend to fan the flames of enmity, he said urging the
world people not to feel animosity towards the Islamic world and let
it live based on its own values and standards.

The West cannot tolerate the existing differences between the Western
and Islamic legal systems, he said adding that they exert pressure on
the Islamic governments by emphasizing on those differences.

He cited the issue of human rights as among the West's pretexts to
impose pressure on the world of Islam.

"The West speaks of respect for nations, nationalities and culture.
There are establishments including the United Nations which claims
equal vote right and position for all nations but the fact is
something else," he noted.

Haddad-Adel said, the Westerners believe that all nations and states
should follow Western norms.

The Islamic world cannot tolerate such a discriminatory view, he said
stressing that the Muslims cannot surrender to the Western legal
system and give up the Islamic legal system.

Prosecutors from 36 Islamic states are discussing accused's rights in
accordance with Islamic law, national law and international treaties
and role of prosecutors in establishing a sustainable security during
the two-day conference.

Besides prosecutors of capitals of Islamic states, executive and
judiciary officials, university professors and representatives of
certain international bodies are attending the meeting.

The conference is being held upon a proposal made by Iran's Judiciary
Chief Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi during his recent visits to
Malaysia and Indonesia.
