Bishop praised the Iranians' forgiveness in releasing the British
Sailors

Right Reverend Thomas (Tom) Matthew Burns (http://www.catholic-
ew.org.uk/dioc/biogs/burns.htm), currently serves as Roman Catholic
Bishop of the Forces, and as such, acts as the leading Catholic
chaplain in the British Armed Forces.

The bishop praised the Iranians' forgiveness in releasing the 15
British service personnel.

The Bishop of the Forces, the Rt. Rev. Tom Burns, said in a statement
to mark the detainees' release on Thursday that the Iranians' faith in
a forgiving god had been "exemplified in action by their good deeds".

"A couple of days ago, I appealed to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah
Khamenei, in the name of his nation and in the name of Islam, to show
generosity and return the sailors and marines to their ship", Bishop
said.

"Over the past two weeks, there has been a unity of purpose between
Britain and Iran, whereby everyone has sought justice and forgiveness
where that is appropriate", he said.
