ElBaradei's Report Regulated in Compliance with U.S. Policies
Tehran -- Diplomatic sources close to Iran-West nuclear standoff stress that
ElBaradei's report on Iran's nuclear activities has been regulated in harmony with
the policies of western states, including the United States.
An informed diplomat told Pars News Agency's foreign policy desk that the approach
adopted by ElBaradei in his recent report on Iran's nuclear activities has grown more
political and gone much beyond the duties and authorities of the International Atomic
Energy Agency's Director-General.
The source stated that ElBaradei has magnified some unimportant issues and restated
his two-sided statements in a bid to display Iran's case ambiguous and keep it open.
He said, "As an instance, the issue of plutonium has been raised in this report
again, while this has been proved to be one of the agency's mistakes, which has been
reflected to the agency by Iran's representative to the IAEA".
Stating that the IAEA and its Director-General should act within the safeguards, the
diplomat stressed that the rights and assignments of the agency and the member states
are fully clear, adding, "the Director-General is not allowed to guess at issues or
analyze them in his report, rather he should merely mention the points that IAEA
inspectors have found out on the basis of documents".
