Zionist lobby, money lobby and lobby of Iranian opponents are a prominent feature of
the U.S. Congress and the decisions which U.S. congressmen have taken against Iran in
the past almost three decades.
The wide-scale backlash of escalating economic sanctions on Iran declared by the U.S.
Congress against Iran on Wednesday prompted Iran's trade partners worldwide to
express concern about the nuisance created to world trade.
BBC radio said in a report from Washington on Thursday that there is the U.S.
Congress and Iranians are not ready with bags full of money there to influence the
trend of decision making.
BBC said that decisions of the U.S. Congress has also embarrassed the White House
exposing it to a new difficulty in the international community.
US Congress voted to step up economic sanctions against Iran amidst strong objections
from US administration. It will create restrictions for foreign investors working in
Iranian energy sector.
Iran's major trade partners including Russia and China are being threatened by such a
legislation which the Congress passed only three votes against compared with 37 votes
in favor indicating the extent of the propaganda campaign against Iran.
According to the legislation, the U.S. administration would cut its financial
assistance to developing countries whose private or state sector may cooperate with
Iran in the field of energy.
But, the White House is anxious about the fact that enforcing the legislation would
lead to a decrease in diplomatic cooperation with other states depriving Washington
of tools to exert pressure on Iran.
Western media said that the U.S. strongly needs support of Western states as well as
Russia and China which all have good economic cooperation with Iran.
BBC said on Thursday that if Iranian trade partners see that U.S. punitive measures
against companies cooperating with Iran would be detrimental to free trade, they may
stand against U.S. at the Security Council to which Iranian nuclear program has been
reported.
