Iran: U.S. Should Give Up Nukes

Iran's president said Monday that his country supports calls for making the Middle
East a nuclear arms-free zone, but he also urged the United States and Russia to give
up all their atomic weapons as a threat to the region's stability.

It is the U.S. and other nuclear powers that have not fulfilled their obligations
under the NPT, including those stated in "Article VI" also known as the "13 steps":

Each of the Parties to the Treaty undertakes to pursue negotiations in good
faith on effective measures relating to cessation of the nuclear arms race at an
early date and to nuclear disarmament, and on a Treaty on general and complete
disarmament under strict and effective international control.

U.S. and Britain just conducted their 22nd underground nuclear explosion, in full
violation of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT), on February 23, 2006.

Iran will never give up its pursuit of nukes. Can you blame them ? The USA (and the
UK), in the Muslim world and the Middle East is the real agressor and colonial power.
It's almost the same old colonial occupation of the region.

Iran experienced the same thing with the overthrow of Mossadegh in the 1950s. Bush
intends transforming the whole region into an U.S. colony, a place to get cheaper oil
from the locals. The U.S. did the same thing with South America after the end of the
Spanish Empire.

Even moderate Iranians are for getting nukes. That's the most troubling aspect of
U.S. policy. Bush is even hated by the moderates in the region.
