Faris, in Arabic, means a horse-rider. I doubt very much that the
Persians got their name from that reference by Arabs.
Also, let's not forget that Arab horses, even today, are considered
among the finest and it seems very unlikely that they distinguished the
in that way, i.e., beause they had horses and Arabs didn't.
Fars is the Arabised version of Pars, as Arabs don't have the letter
"P" in their language and it becomes F or B (like Pepsi is "bibsi" on
the Arabian bottles).
