As far as I know, the existence of the Proto Indo Europeans has only
been inferred from comparative linguistic and very little has been
backed up by archaeology. I think with the advance of the genetic
sciences, much of these disputes can be resolved one way or another by
the end of the century we are in, and probably very much sooner.
Nevertheless, the question remains: SO WHAT? This stuff may be
interesting but is it useful? Does it really matter where the
ancestors of Iranians were 7,000 years ago? Is somebody less Iranian
because his ancestors came to Iran 1,000 years ago, rather than
5,000?!!
We should be wary of people who try to divide us when we badly need to
be united. Beware of those whose loyalties are to foreign capitals and
call patriotic Iranians names. Beware of those who left Iran at the
age of 3, have nothing in common with Iranians and have come to the
conclusion that the Iranians are not worthy of their own "Nordic"
ancestry and that Iran should "therefore" be bombed and the 98% of
Iranians who are Muslims should die so that Iran is "their country"
again.
