"You say they wrote about it themselves. What evidence do you have about
this ? Please cite your references."
Please forgive my bluntness, do your own homework. This is an area so
well known that such demand as you make is irrelevant. Being uninformed
is no excuse.
Google and wikipedia are your friends, here for your starting place:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_mathematics
"I was looking at some pictures of Chang Kai Shek and other Chinese
leaders and the top levels of the government throughout recent history
(yesterday). They seem to be basically military style - run by command
from above. Everyone doing exactly what they are told to do. This does
not allow any room for innovation of any kind. I would like to see
evidence that they ( or any of these so-called 'complex cultures' that
you are claiming ) created significant literature or mathematical
concepts or anything that is not a copy of what they obtained from
somewhere else historically."
Again, being uninformed is not an excuse. Such observation as this is
silly as well as being uninformed.

One reference there is that of the work of Needham,. His life long work
in this subject led to a multiple volume work detailing the science and
technology of china historically. There are few if any to match their
work until the industrial revolution and the rise of science in the
west.
Goodluck on your search for the truth. You can rely on your Wikipedia
and be happy with your version of the truth. That is all I can say to
you at this point since you have already dismissed everything I wrote
to you. I have wasted my time writing to you, I think.
