Interesting development that Mulayam Yadav, who used to rant about "dynastic politics," first introduces the Prince Akhilesh Yadav, and now daughter-in-law, Dimple Yadav.

How goddamn phony can one get? This isn't the only phony in the mix. There are several "families" whose little fiefdoms (now new princely states) have replaced erstwhile princely states.

Missing are the Deoras, Pilots, Reddys, etc. This feudal disease cuts across party lines. Apparently only one family the Nehru-Gandhi one is guilty of "dynastic politics" and the Karunanidhis, Gowdas, Yadavs, ... are "saintly" in comparison, and perfectly acceptable. The sum total corruption of all these families put together will dwarf anything that the Nehru-Gandhi dynasty has ever made. The asli Gandhi that everyone bashes at regular intervals did not make a penny, neither did his progeny, and he did not establish a political dynasty. The only silver lining is that Namo and Mayawati do not have any worries about "dynastic" continuity. For this one ought to be grateful. So much for "republicanism."
