Taslima and laying down conditions to Taslima for being able to stay
in India. Her only crime is that she wrote a novel about genocides of
Hindus in Benglasesh and took Islamists to task for it. As if genocide
and ethnic cleansing of hindus is a basic Islamic tenet and nobody
should be able to criticize terror tactics of moslems. It shows what
kind of mindset these Islamists still possess in India even after
partition. Caving in to such Islamic fanatics has exposed true colors
of people who swear by secularism who have no problem offending
sentiments of Hindus. Relying on MF Hussain to hide behind relativism
shows these buggers don't care hurting the sentiments of hindus - as
if writing about genocide of hindus is as offensive as depicting hindu
deities in nude and selling them as porn art. It shows these people
are acting as defender of Islamic fundamentalism rather than defender
of secularism.



UPA government's position stated by Pranab Muhkarjee on Taslima issue
needs to be exposed for its obvious flaws and contradictions and its
attempts to gag critics selectively and lay down pre-conditions for
enjoying freedoms in India. Its official declaration of policy of
silencing the critics of Islamic fundamentalism will set dangerous
precedent and will prove short-sighted for moslems themselves. Secular
media seems to be satisfied with government's policy position and its
silence is noteworthy. It will predictably go on overdrive only when
Hindus take similar positions and Hindus start laying down similar pre-
conditions to the critics in order for such critics to be able to live
freely and enjoy freedom of expression in India. Until now, such acts
of Hindus could be condemned by people and media, but this precedent
will come back to haunt them too when next time they need to condemn
actions of Hindu protesters. UPA government's stupidity will empower
only extremes on both sides while moderate voices will lose out, and
so will India. It proves UPA government is a government of fanatics,
for fanatics, by fanatics - and moderates and people of India has
nothing in it.
