Gulzarbagh is a small railway station some four miles east of Patna
Junction. Initially Lalu wanted to change the main Patna Junction
to Azimabad, in the hope of catching Muslim votes. The opposition
was stiff, and his idea fell flat. That was 2 years ago, when Rabri
Devi
was fighting for her survival. As a side note, that was when he hired
a male prostitute named U.C.Banerjee to write his own work of fiction
on the Godhra incident. This is his second try.
The name Azimabad was given by Aurangzib in his waning
years (circa 1704) to commemorate one of his grandsons. The name was
used only in official documents, and never caught up. When
the British got Bihar after Mir Qasim's rout at Buxar (1764)
they threw away this name and reverted to the old name, Patna,
which derives from Patliputra.
Now the new Aurangzib aka Lalu wants to reverse history once again.
Be sure to read the comments on the URL above. It indicates how
divisive such mindless actions can be.
