Re: The Gujjar Mutiny - the negative role of Meenas and a proposed solution

You said it! There is no ethical argument, economic logic or social
justification for this grotesque, divisive an unjust law, which is
primarily designed keep Hindu enslaved. It is difficult to justify
branding a cohort of poor people as more deserving of an affirmative
action than other, when in fact a vast and diverse population equally
worthy of such treatment. Even those who have been given these
handouts are not served well, as it dampens drive, incentive and self
esteem. Those who shamelessly defend these draconian legislations are
Indian politicians, who are among the most corrupt in the world; and
those who belong to particular caste and have gained, or those who
wish to see Indians divided, weak and ineffectual. It is time that
these quota started giving weighatge not just to caste, but economics
status, wealth and parent's education etc.

A better solution would be to _merge_ the ST quota with the proposed

Merging the ST and OBC quotas into "underrepresented people quota"

No amount of verbal gymnastics of merging this with that and renaming
that to this is going to fool anyone.

The mob wants to know just one thing : how much of reservations are
they getting. Others want to know at who's expense are they getting
reservations?

That's what caste & communal politics is all about and that is the
road communalists (i.e. you) wish to send the country down.

Just as soon as one group is handed reservations, along will come half
a dozen other groups threatning violence & riots to demand they too be
given reservations. In a poor country like India, there are a vast
multitude of people from all kinds of communities who want
reservations.

Who are you to deny them?

I'd like to see you get up in front of a crowd and tell them that
their reservations are being reduced or revoked. Before you get to
that verbal gymnastics of merging this with that, you will be lynched.
