up and face a system that is designed to stifle freedom of enterprise,
little protection for intellectual rights, and corruption all around,
just like it is in India. Westerners generally fail to notice this
while commenting on the educational systems of India and China.
But of course, China will see short term economic benefits; But they
will never threaten America/West's dominance, simply due to the fact
that the very approach they are trying, has been tried many times
before, and has failed.
Take Japan before and after WW II for instance; It indeed saw its
economy surge (after WW II) by beeing a regimented society based on
rote learning, and dicipline that went to ridiculous lengths (Like what
China is doing now). But they were never, and will never be, a threat
to America or the West. Even the attack on Pearl harbour, would in no
imaginable way have ever threatened the American Union per say; And the
reason for this is not the fact that Japan lacked a good military, but
the fact that they lacked the ability for creative thinking... Which
America and Europe have in abandon. But Japan does produce some
inovative inventions in falshes of brilliance, but they are hardly
likely to cause even a ripple in the global political picture. This is
the same thing which will happen to China. But China being a bigger
country than Japan, will of course be a grave threat to India, long
before it tries its hand at posing a serious challenge to America (And
being nuked like Japan).

S ix-thirty rolls around on a chilly morning with an ear-piercing
whistle blown by the monitoring teacher at Number Five School in
Zhuzhou County, China.

It won't be long before the Chinese economic engine harnesses the-----------------------------------
ferocious tenacity of this country's pupils. I wonder where America
will be when that happens.
Still far far ahead of China... And in all probability, India may be
ahead too. You see, this type of pointless "breating-your-head-on-wall"
rote leaning has been going on since human civilization began - And in
most cases, societies that go this route either crumble, or else
maintain a modest level of civilization. Nazi Germany and Communist
Soviet are two prime examples of this kind of mindless education. To an
extent, India too is, but the difference is, when the kids are not
being forced to learn something, their imagination and creativity is at
work - And this makes all the difference; When forced learning takes
every spare moment of activity of your brain, chances are, a robot will
be far faster and more accurate than you at the end of the day. This is
why America will maintain its lead well into the future. But, we don't
have to tell the Chinese that...
