Re: Indian culture at it's best

The rotting buildings in Mumbai are legecy of socialist engineering -
rent control - some mumbaites are still paying as little as rs 50/mo -
rents that were set in fifties and sixties can not be legally upgraded
nor tenents of some 40-50 years can be evicted. These properties are
lost to the tenents - the buildings do not generate enough income that
allow the upkeep - and why would owners upgarde anything if they have
no way to recover their investment? The laws are tilted in favor of
renters - it has dampened the investment in construction of new
housings - thus artifically sky-rocketing the housing costs over years
- making it impossible for average persons to own their own homes. So
vast majority of mumbaites have become dependent on cheap rents - thus
creating solid politial supoprt against repeal of rent controls.

I don't know why you are desperate to see Bharat culture or Hindu
Duniya at places like mumbai that are known for their cosmopolitsm or
in ideological underpinings that have nothing to do with Hinduism - in
reality they are hostile to Hinduism. When one juxtaposes socialism,
communism or western capitalism over Hinduism and than seek to critique
hIndusm or HIndu culture, the criticism does not lend much validity -
if you are arguing that HInduism and Hindu society is not capable of
producing perfected western capitalist utopia or socialist heaven, than
you are right - Hindu Duniya is defective and does not adept well to
imported ideologies and has long ways to go to achieve what capitalism
and socialism have achieved in other part of the world.
