Re: english vs. marathi schooling

The most useful language for anyone who is interested in advancing in
this era of globalization is English. And I recommend that everyone
should learn English, and learn it well. As in English, in every
regional language of India outstanding literature, poetry and other type
of writings are available. So you or your daughter/son can benefit from
learning Marathi also. I know a few of my relatives who settled some 35
yr. ago in Kanpur. They do not really converse in Marathi very well,
but they have acquired outstanding abilities in Hindi. My
father-in-law lived in Hyderabad (Deccan). He was excellent in English,
Marathi, Udru and Sanskrit. It very much depends on what one wants to
achieve. So from practical point of view let her have her education
through English medium, and many English medium schools in India also
teach Hindi and Marathi. ...............BND
