Shiv Sena

Just today I read the following two news items: (1) In Mumbai a Shiv
Sena candidate, Madhukar Potdar, was defeated by Priya Dutt (a Congress
candidate and the daughter of the Late Sunil Dutt) by a margin of more
than 100,000 votes, and (2) Mr. Narayan Rane (a former Shiv Sena
activist) and now a member of Congress and the State Revenue Minister,
defeated Mr. Parshuram Uparkar, a Shiv Sena candidate by more than
63,000 votes. Mr. Uparkar even lost his campaign deposit. Shiv Sena
founder Mr. Balasaheb Thackaray, and the man who holds the "remote"
control on all affairs of Shiv Sena, his son and the current Working
Chairman of Shiv Sena, Mr. Uddhav Thackaray, Mr. Raj Thakcaray had
actively campaigned against Mr. Rane. It is a good lesson for Shiv
Sena, a political party that was established years ago for worthy causes
(?) and a party which in recent years has ruled by intimidation and by
practicing politics of destruction. I hope that it slowly disappears
from the political scene...
