Self supporting educational institutions.

It was long overdue that the government got out of the regulation of
self supporting private educational institutions, except to serve as a
guardian to maintain a minimum educational standard. Unfortunately
these private institutions, it seems to me, will cater only to those
who can afford the exorbitant fees they charge and other large lump-sum
payments required to secure admission. The sorry state is that
academically poor students with money will get in while bright students
without sufficient resources will be left out. Our society and our
system always catered to the rich, the affluent and to those who have
connections with the "right political" parties or movements. Most
of these self supporting institutions are there to make money for those
involved in the racket. The quality of education they offer has
fallen considerably and I wonder whether the educators in these
institutions are well qualified.
Shutting down these institutions is not a solution. In fact the public
should be glad that pressure on the public system is reduced because
many, who can afford, will seek education elsewhere and if they are
willingly accepting it let them have it.
Don't we, as a society, take a certain kind of pleasure in having
something that some others cannot afford? Reservation and quota alone
is not going to eliminate the inequalities and the wretchedness of the
downtrodden and the deprived. The root causes lie elsewhere and that
is in the social structure. Demanding reservations in private
educational and other enterprises is not the way to go. Reservation
is a way of admitting our inability that we cannot create
opportunities for all. Has any political party set its goal to create
conditions so that reservation will become unnecessary?
