Sell all you have and farm for world's hungry

Have any of you felt a declining supply of motivation? You work, you
tire, you pay the bills. Your kids are giving you grief, or if you are
a college student who does not understand how anything you are learning
is going to make a difference in the world. Well, I am in that
situation, I am a college student in the last semester before
graduation. Although my parents would never have me sell all that I
have, go back to my village in China live in my ancestor home and till
the land. Then I would organize a mission to bring my produce and join
some other charitable organization and venture to North Korea to feed
hungry children.
But reality then sits in. I have nothing to sell that is worth
anything. I am still dependent on my parents. Even with a job lined
up after graduation, I won't be making enough money to fund such a
venture. Now I work at my parents' restaurant, although I find great
satisfaction in giving huge portions to my customers, they are mostly
poor, too. But they are also fat on food stamps and regardless of how
much I give them, they are not in need of food as much as improvished
Sudanese, or Somalians.
I know that 99.99% of you all will tell me to stop dreaming hippie.
Others will see me as an idealist without a clue how the real world
works. I wish I could just live a normal life. But I am losing my
motivation to live a normal life, because it angers me that there is so
much injustice in the world, and that I know better than to ignore it.
Because, fighting your own compassion slowly but surely kills the
spirit within you. I can make lots of money, drive nice cars, but
killing the voice inside you that always tells you to help your fellow
man eventually kills the soul.
What joy do you have in a nice car? I got a new 2005 Honda Accord EX
V6 with leather last year. After a couple months it did not seem as
enjoyable as I originally thought. We live in a big house with a pool,
but that just reminds me how much more good I could have done if we had
spent that $38,000 on charity.
When you die, that's it, nothing. What joy is life, if you live for
just yourself? Even for the most devout Christian, there may be doubts
that an afterlife exists, but to me, that's not an issue. I should
live my life the same regardless. "Wo wei ren ren, Ren ren wei wo."
(I for all, All for me). Although I am against communism, that is one
of China's PRC's lines, One for all, All for one.
