I think I agree with you, and I do not think you are being unfair.

It is true that we hmong have been and still remain mostly
illiterate. Your statements could only be characterized as unfair if
illiterate Hmong, in the past or even today, could be generalized as
well off or successful. Though jungle isolation allowed for some self
sufficiency, history has shown us that we Hmong have never had any
real ability to exercise power or make a demand for equal rights in
the countries we lived in.

I'll take it a step further. Not only should we concentrate on
"signatures," but we Hmong should concentrate on enfranchisement. Our
shouting, and even signatures do not amount to much when the great
majority of us are not registered to vote, and thus play no part in
deciding who gets elected.

Politicians pay attention to their constituents, made up of people who
give them money, and people who vote them into office. We have to get
our people registered, and then we have to hold our representatives
accountable for their actions.
