i agree with you that the most distasteful thing about the faith is
not the faith itself but the people who misuse it, especially for
conversion purposes.

hmong people never slaughtered a population for their beliefs like the
christians, muslims and jews. the followers of these 3 faiths today
are the biggest human rights violators. christian america gives guns/
bullets to israel, israel sends missile strikes into civilian
occuppied regions of 'palestine', muslims strap bombs on themselves to
kill israelis in the marketplace. is this 'civil'? is this
'civilization' what hmong people should be aiming for? is religious
terrorism what hmong people should aim for, so, according to vimhlub,
we could deter others, by holding their safety hostage, from 'mocking'
us (in a movie) ?

sometimes, some people are passionate on sch, but they just don't
think things through before they speak. they get an impression of
'what's wrong' and then open their fat, big mouths to no limit, even
though they have left every single stone unturned.

You seem to miss the point of what I am trying to say. I see that you
hold much dislike for Christians. I am not a Christian by the way.
My reference to the different religious group was to illustrate the
point that they would not, or would they allow others to, portray
their systems of belief, social interaction, or how they live in
negative light AS THOUGH WHAT WERE PORTRAYED WERE THE NORM. The
current Hmong movies seem to make travesties of Hmong in almost every
respect including: kev phoojywg, kev ua neeb/hu plig, kev noj mov, kev
tham hluas nkauj/nraug, kev ua plaub ua ntug, kev yuav niam yau, etc.

It is apparent that you and I focus our attentions on different parts/
effects of the movies. For me, the outcomes of the movie matter
little. The harm was already done throughout the whole movie.
Compare to the harm done, the outcome means zilch to me. If you think
Dr. Tom and Nom Phaj did excellent jobs in telling stories and helping
people, including children, to understand what not to do, I think it's
the opposite. In fact, when I asked people about what they remember
from the movies, no one told me they learned a lesson or two. All
they remember, and some were willing to act out, the vicious behaviors
performed by the "protagonists". You may have a terrible life and can
relate to them, but honestly, what you may have went through and what
they portrayed are NOT normal Hmong life or Hmong behavior. You need
not accept them as such.

Most of the producers are dirt poor. It is not worth the effort to
sue them, but we can withhold our dollars and teach our children and
friends that they need not be instructed about Hmong ways, practices,
and beliefs by "IDIOTS".
