Of course a mathematical formula is not expressive enough to capture
"success" but do we not "measure" success anyways with formulas
(mathematical or statistical in nature) ? That's besides the point.

It's obvious you did not include mathematics in your "measure" of
success, but certainly there must have been some criteria at the very
least qualitative ? Or does success just magically manifest at the whim
of a person? Not unlike the "success" of the "war on terror" because
Dubya's opinion or emotional state dictated so?

You cannot "just" consider yourself a successful person out of thin
air, or anything else for that matter. A criteria against which to
"consider" success is necessary and sufficient.

I could be wrong, however, and success's manifestation does override
biology's disproof of spontaneous generation.
