Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi doesn't like the looks of
rail.

Quite frankly ... too bad.

The only way to avoid this problem might be to
put it underground-- out of sight.

What a mind-bogglingly stupid idea.

1) Any kine Global Warming, and aside from the other issues, the
tunnels will flood.

2) This sacrifices the aesthetic needs of the one for the
hundred-thousand odd people who are going to be riding this thing
every day. Twice. Including tourists.

Has anyone even bothered to consider what the view will be like from
the trains?

In Vancouver, there was much the same hew and cry when SkyTrain
went in. And the property values of the land nearest the lines and the
stations dropped in relation to the surrounding areas.

And then the system went on-line.

And in very short order, the property values increased ... a lot ...
the closer one got to a SkyTrain station. SkyTrain also has two short
segments that go underground. They are ok, but it's much nicer to be
up in the sunlight.

Hawai`i is about sunshine and the views of Nature.
There is NO WAY that we should be thinking about building a subway.
It's beyond foolishness.
IMHO only, of course.
The views of our duly elected representatives may vary.

Aloha mai Nai`a.
