the next higher class level. So, I do not see how it

many do not seem to be learning what they are their
to do....
Well that's my point. And I've also learned that they
take the same test. So they will test different grades
with the same test. It really does not matter whether
they pass the test. There is no consequence for the
student.
However, was watching NOW on PBS and, in some Texas
district, they persuade the ones that fail to leave
school and go into a GED program. Essentially they kick
out the ones that fail. Naturally the ones that pass go
on to take the exam again in the 12th and the
percentage passing is higher although the total number
taking the test is less. Again this is a funny
interpretation of No Child Left Behind.
I also do not see any consquences for the teachers
who fail their students....most of them certainly are
not going to lose their jobs over that fact. Ditto
for the Principal. And of course the people above
them in the education establishment are not going to
suffer any consequences for the fact that the entire
system seems to be failing. And who suffers in the
end? Who are the real "victims"? The children that
we say we care about.....
No... When the school is reconstituted it is
essentially closed down and reopened. In a number of
school systems the administrative staff and teaching
staff has changed when the school fails. Rather than no
change, failure leads to radical change. There are real
changes and students benefit.
