Thurston Lava tube in the Volcanoes National Park
is a well known tourist (and other people) attraction.
Kaumana Cave is a county park. Kazumura Cave
(the longest known lava tube) is famous in at least
some circles. (We've been told that we have a skylight
to it on our Puna land. I know our neighbors do, I've
seen that one.)
The caves are blocked in some places to keep people
from walking through them. Somebody told me that if
you go down Kaumana Cave you end up in somebody's
back yard. I don't think you'll find many people here
who have any interest in lava tubes who haven't been
in one (including some people, like me, who don't
have any particular interest in being below ground
for any reason).
