Re: Haitian children sold as cheap labourers and prostitutes for little more than £50

While I was looking for Restavak in Haiti, I discovered some seemingly
nice people have them and use them as FREE labor.

Now if I got close to the house, the adults would get scared but it was
clear that this was slavery but somehow runs deep within the societies
of the Island, including the Dominican.

Treatment of Haitians, as a matter of fact the black race by Dominicans
who could be are as dark as most Haitians is well-known and I met
Africans in Haiti who were abused by the Dominicans meaning shot and
beaten and left for dead.

Basically it is the norm.

Haitians would come to me and mention some family had a nice girl for
marriage purposes and "BTW she is not black like most Haitians, she is
light skin, like you". They thought these words would please me.

As Kafou said it is worse to be a slave owner, and he is correct.

This issue needs to be fixed INSIDE OUT, from Haiti towards the rest of
the world. And you can do it, but you need to love Haitians you cannot
approach this topic as a political reformist or business person or
journalist...
