Yes, me too. However I've never heard anyone claiming to be negatively
influenced by sitting close to people who eat GM food.
The objections to GM food are varied. Fear of potential health risks as you
mention is certainly one, and while this doesn't convince me either, it
seems to me that people should have the right to be picky about their food,
regardless of the economic interests of some corporations with
well-deserved, bad reputations. Other objections are political (further
dependency of farmers on a few large companies) or ecological (further
reduction of variety in agriculture, proven negative impact on wild life).

Essentially people should be free to do things which impacts their health
negatively. I think it's good that smokers have a separate room in our
office building where they can smoke and enjoy a cup of coffee.
I shouldn't be subjected to other people's smoke though. As far as health
risks go, it's probably not the top priority, but it's rather rude.
