Germany: European Smoker's Paradise

http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,1858020,00.html

While nine European countries have already brought in comprehensive anti-smoking restrictions, Germany is one of those lagging behind.

Maybe something about this ought to be included in the declaration on human rights. That it is a basic human right to live and work in an atmosphere which is not smoke infested. The right to breathe clean air, that kind of thing.

Maybe millions of people have suffered a slow and agonizing death because people at their place of employment refused to give up their filthy habit. They died though they had never smoked themselves.

When I see advertisements in German magazines featuring happy smiling smokers, living a life of ease in Marlboro country, it really looks like something from a bygone age.

yup. the euros are ahead of north america in many areas of health. they eat less, they exercise more....
but when it comes to smoking, the euros are lagging behind.

But sense is moving east! In Ireland you are no longer allowed to smoke in pubs, in England legislation is in the pipeline, it will eventually reach Germany, I am sure.
