Mégret and Israel

Because they assimilate you to the extreme-right, some people would have
liked they could affix you a label of anti-Semitism. What can you say on
this subject and which is your feeling about Israel?
There was on my subject a lot of disinformation. I challenge whoever to find
anti-semitic comments in my mouth. Simply because I am not him and because I
know which sufferings had to undergo our Jewish fellow countrymen in the
last century. It is thus with force that I condemn both the racism and the
anti-Semitism. These two feelings belong to the antipodes of my philosophy
of life. And making reference to a comment sadly celebrate, I say it with
gravity : Gas chambers are not for me a detail of the history of the second
world war.
Against the anti-Semitism and against the Islam I feel besides a real
solidarity to the Jewish French people who are exposed to demonstrations of
anti-Semitism characterized in suburbs on behalf of the Islamist
populations. And I know that these attacks will extend to the Christians and
to all those tomorrow who want French, whoever is besides their religion. I
thus wish that our Jewish fellow countrymen understand that there is no
danger for them towards people as me who fight for France.
For the republic
Because it is the nation and the republic, because I want to defend in front
of the Islam, who can protect them on the contrary from the intolerance and
from the violence. In this respect, we are, if I may say, in the same camp
and there would be nothing more absurd on behalf of the Jewish French people
that to make a mistake about opponent. Our Jewish fellow countrymen have all
their place in France, they are, for many, there for centuries, they likened
to it and contributed to the brilliance and to the prestige of our country.
And, as such, they are completely a part of the national community.
For an Israeli-Palestinian peace
On the question of Israel, I feel sorry for the suffering of the Jews as for
that of the Palestinians. I condemn, naturally, the terrorism, but I am
convinced that no durable solution will be found but that a Palestinian
State is created. This Israeli-Palistinian conflict constitutes a major
historic drama connected to the simple fact that two peoples claim the same
ground. For me, he cannot thus have there of the other solution than a
partition. Israel has the right to live in peace, behind sure borders, in
accordance with its roots and its culture. But, for it, the Palestinians
have to can enjoy from their part a ground to live there as nation, in peace
with their neighbours.
The Islamist danger
I believe profoundly that a majority of Israelis agree for such a project.
It has to be the same in the other camp. And I am convinced that it is the
case of all to those who have in mind the only Palestinian interests. But,
let us be clear, it is not the case of those who exploit this war to the
advantage of the other interests and I notably think of the Islamists who
use this conflict to instigate the hatreds and develop all around the world
Arabic The current politico-monk of the fundamentalist Islam.
Even there, the Moslem fundamentalism is source of confrontations. In
Palestine, in France, as in the rest of the world, he must be contained and
fought. The history does not repeat in the identical and of what the Jews
have to be afraid for themselves here, in France as somewhere else in the
world, It is not an ideology for ever condemned, but the ascent of the
fundamentalist Islam which does not stop strengthening. And, in front of
this danger, I am beside the Jews.
