That's funny, I'd have stressed the final syllable... There's regional
variation for you.
Is that somebody's name? If it's the town of Bastia (no t) in Corsica,
then it would be BAH-stiah, the Mediterranean way...
Isn't language delightfully simple... Like the Brits say here, "you say
to-may-to, I say f... off"
