oh come on...

France ? What was the date again ? Can "Donovans brain" (*) tell Vercingetorix from Clovis ? Obelix from Asterix ?

Italian ? Who ? Julius Cæsar ?

Once again the Americans did NOT come to help the French, or the Gauls , even after they were defeated. In fact Benjamin Franklin himself went to Rome to bring Cæsar a message of congratulations from Georges Washington himself. Unfortunately, Cæsar had been assassinated for some time when he eventually reached Europe .(The telegraph companies were on strike)
The French language had been prohibited and replaced by Latin, but somehow came back in usage by the time of the American Independance.
