I blame the special interest groups. After several judges dismissed
the case the lawyer (hired by a extremist group)who specializes in
these cases went to a Makati judge known for his anti-American views
and anti-VFA stance and he even stated in his decision that he was
prejudiced and that he took this so personal that he was going to give
the kid the maximum punishment!!! It was never about her really- she
was mad because he unceremoniously dumped her out and took off... but
these outside groups wanted to use it as a weapon... she knew her
statements and that of others wouldn't fly past the appeals so she
took the best deal she could and ran with it.
