Wanting more, robber touches victim

NOT satisfied with running away with more than P2,000 worth of items, a
robbery suspect had to rape the victim.=20

A case for robbery with rape was filed against Roberto Oliva Batuhan,
while his partner Ashly Planas Lacturan will also face a robbery case.=20

According to the information filed before the Cebu City Regional Trial
Court, Batuhan and Lacturan allegedly robbed a man and a woman on Aug. 3,
2008 along Archbishop Reyes Ave., Barangay Kamput-haw, Cebu City.=20

Weapon=20

The suspects used a hunting knife.=20

The woman lost P130 in cash, a silver bracelet worth P1,000, a silver ring=

and a pair of silver earrings worth P1,000.=20

The male victim, Melito Gabutero Bacumo, lost a P2,500 watch.=20

Bacumo and the woman (name withheld for being an alleged victim of rape)
stated in an affidavit that they were waiting for a jeepney at Archbishop
Reyes Ave., when the two armed suspects, approached them and declared a
hold-up.=20

After taking away the woman=92s bag and Bacumo=92s watch, Batuhan allegedl=
y
led the woman a hundred meters away from where Bacumo was standing along
with Lacturan.=20

Rape=20

According to the victims=92 joint affidavit, Batu-han allegedly started
kissing the woman and touching her private parts. After doing so, he left
the victim.=20

Bacumo said he shouted and roving barangay tanods of Kamputhaw responded.=20

=93Barangay tanods chased (the suspects, who ran in different directions)
along with some bystanders. They were able to arrest Batuhan and was
mauled by the angry bystanders,=94 the victims=92 joint affidavit read.=20

Lacturan was later arrested as well.=20

No bail was recommended against Batuhan, 31, while P200,000 was
recommended for the 39-year-old Lacturan=92s provisional liberty. (JGA)=20
