A suspected bomber, supposedly involved in the attacks on Bali in
2002, has been arrested on Boracay Island, a popular tourist resort in
central Philippines.

A Philippines army spokesman has revealed Mohammad Bani, an Indonesian
national, was arrested on March 8th.

He was first taken to army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio in Makati
for interrogation before being transferred to a Manila jail.

Bani is suspected of having joined the Abu Sayyaf group in the
Philippines.

Abu Sayyaf is a militant Muslim group that has admitted to the
kidnapping of 20 foreigners in the south-western Philippines.

It has also been blamed for bombing, kidnap-for-ransom activities and
other terror attacks in the south and in Metro Manila.

Another Indonesian, Al-Midzbar Bunajal, 24, was also arrested with
Bani.

According to the Philippines military, both are members of the
Indonesian-based Jemaah Islamiyah, the Southeast Asian branch of the
al-Qaeda terror network.
