A DYSFUNCTIONAL
NATION
In this most critical period of our nation's history, the sovereignty of the Republic is threatened insidiously from within, by those who have arrogated upon themselves the function of national leadership through the continuous usurpation of the People's will.
This has relegated Our Beloved Nation from a progressive Nation Of Promise, second only to Japan in Asia to the bottom of the pit-and now among the most corrupt of third world countries.
We have become a nation marked with:
1. A DYSFUNCTIONAL ECONOMY:
Where policies and strategies being implemented are:
a. Detrimental to the creation of wealth within the country;
b. Anti-domestic industry and production and instead focused towards building an economy dependent on the earnings of overseas workers; and
c. Ignored in principle as corruption continues unabated, bleeding the country out of resources that could have productively been used in vital infrastructure and development programs.
2. A DYSFUNCTIONAL EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM:
Where our "educated" children end up:
a. Incapable of speaking or writing straight English or performing basic Mathematics let alone applying Science;
b. Preferring salaried employment in multinational companies rather than engaging in job-generating, wealth-producing entrepreneurship ventures;
c. Wanting to work or migrate abroad, aggravating the brain drain, and contributing more to already developed economies instead of their own needful home country;
d. Hard pressed to distinguish good from evil, honesty from dishonesty, righteousness from depravity and looked down upon by immigration officials and citizens of other countries as second-class people.
3. A DYSFUNCTIONAL JUDICIARY, OMBUDSMAN, SANDIGANBAYAN
Where some cases are decided not in accordance with law but in accordance with personal connection, power and material exchange;
Where the evidence is distorted to fit the "required decision," even as those who try to do what is right are muzzled or intimidated.
4. A DYSFUNCTIONAL LEGISLATIVE
Where laws passed are seriously deficient in quality;
Where the search for truth is prevented and covered up;
Where individual gain rather than the welfare of the majority dominates decision making;
Where political dynasties abound, often ruled by guns, goons and gold.
5. A DYSFUNCTIONAL EXECUTIVE
Where laws are twisted in interpretation and used as personal weapons against those who dissent;
Where implementing the laws and the budget are done in ingenious ways to shield rather than prevent corruption; protect lies rather than help bring out the truth;
Where political patronage has become standard practice.
6. A DYSFUNCTIONAL MILITARY AND POLICE
Where instead of protecting the citizens, the protection of the enemies of the people appears paramount;
That has become, in most situations, the violator rather than the protector of our citizens and implementor of our laws.
7. A DSYFUNCTIONAL CHURCH
Where the simple words of the Lord's Commandments are reworded into convoluted and inane statements such as "Discern the Truth," or "Communal Action" which confuse and disappoint the faithful who expect clearer guidance from the church.
8. A DYSFUNCTIONAL ELITE - The Educated, The Rich & The Business Class
That tolerates and even fosters evil in its midst to protect its status in society, even if such is disastrous to the rest of the country.
9. A DYSFUNCTIONAL ELECTORAL AND POLITICAL SYSTEM
Where the capable and honest cannot win elections and the cheaters and incompetent are voted into office;
Where the sacred mandate to uphold the people's choice are, more often than not, treated as an option.
10. A DYSFUNCTIONAL CITIZENRY
Where consistent misgovernance and the prostitution of our institutions have created a culture that punishes those who do right and rewards those who do wrong, breeding a people who find themselves:
a. Tolerating wrong-doing to survive;
b. Participating in wrong-doing to have a better life;
c. Afraid to act with decency and honesty.
We all take ResponsibilITY
To nurture our nation to soundness and growth by:
1. Paying our taxes, buying Filipino, patronizing small business.
2. Treating environment and public property as a trust.
3. Exercising our right of suffrage, and not put it up for sale.
4. Playing fair, respecting the truth, extending help to the
less fortunate.
5. Discerning for ourselves what is true and good and then standing up for these when called upon for the good of the institution and our country.
6. Speaking out against injustice.
7. Restoring the primacy of setting a good example in the family, in private practice, and in the public service.
AND MOST OF ALL, NEVER LOSING HOPE, NEVER GIVING UP PRIDE IN OUR COUNTRY.
