There is 24/7 news but there was no mention of a person who doesn't sleep, if what you meant - watching it. The analogy that there's water on tap 24/7 doesn't mean you're gonna be shaking hands to people imbibing it at same degree of time it is provided.
I don't see any possibility of analogy between reading/watching/listening to news and the biological need for hydration.
