No sir, you are not an, IDIOT!!...

No one is, that's for sure, that is if only you hadn't act like
one...;-)

I am having fun with that word..

Did you know that it was derived from the ancient Greek word "idiotes",
which meant "commoner, simple man, layman, bungler"? It was only since
the
19th century that the term gained a more negative connotation.
Isn't there a nice Tagalog term for it? ;-)

There was a time when simple means the same as idiot, yes. Not anymore.

In German language a "Simpel" still is something like an idiot, or a
simpleton.

Simple in old English do mean stupid, so is commoner meaning all who are
common are stupid.. all those words were negative and meant idiot.

Not the other way around, it is the liberals that changed the meaning of
being common to denote, simple and not stupid or idiot.

So much for ancient political correctness.

I'm not so sure that it happened that way. I think the original meaning of
"simple" was "uncomplicated", like in "saying something in simple words".

For Tagalogs, the old way is to say literally "nasiraan ang bait" means
broken kindness, but figuratively means insane.

It tells a lot about the ethics of the Tagalogs that they considered the
loss of kindness as a symptom of insanity. It shows that kindness is a
natural part of their mind.

Gago or tanga means idiot, but not necessarily, like they say, tanga,
you can teach while gago, you cannot, or is that the other way around?

Anyway, using English, stupid you can teach, while idiots you cannot,
they are not capable of learning.

There are inborn biological limits of a person's intellectual capability. No
education can change it, education can only help to handle it.
