Re: USA- a Complete, Total, Absolute, Undisputed Paradise for a Filipino (?)

I really do not know about what it is like to be growing up in the US
as a person of Asian heritage. I will really have to take your word for
it. I have heard, though of hate crimes and the "myth" of the model
minority and all that. But again, the dis-satisfied ones seem to be
most vocal. My feeling is Asian America girls have an easier time than
guys.

as for the Ethnic issue I've always been
confused on that... Stalin wasn't even a Russian...

Well, you can see it by looking at his Mediterranean face. The reason
he could be the head of state was because Georgia was part of USSR
(albeit not part of Russia). I guess Americans as a rule did not know
the difference. USSR and Russia are two different aspects. USSR
consisted of 15 countries- Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia. Kind of
like the UK. UK consists of N. Ireland, Scotland, etc. A Scottish King
could be on the throne in London. But it does not make him an
Englishman. So a Georgian could be elected the genera; secretary in
Moscow. It does not make him a Russian. But no more Georgians will be
allowed in the Kremlin. They are being kicked out as we speak. However,
in the UK they do not have documents that state that one is English,
Scottish, etc. whereas in the USSR they would.

and a large number
of these other ethnics have people who are Slavic genetically but were
raised in a different part of the nation and are considered non-
Russian-

The ones who are in the Russian federations and who are 50% of Russian
blood line are Russian on both nationality ( ethnicity) and
citizenship, as well. The ones outside ( such as in Kazakhstan) are
Russian in nationality if they have Russian names and faces- these are
recognizable to a Russian. But many do not have paper citizenship of
the Russian federation. So they are stuck in a no man's land. Russia
says they are non-citizens but others say they are not from there
either. Kind of like the Chinese in Malaysia or Indonesia. They are not
Chinese to Beijing gov't but they are Chinese to Malaysian or
Indonesia gov't.

I guess it comes down to a very complicated formula that
outsiders can't grasp...

Which outsiders do you mean? There are many types of outsiders and some
are more outsiders than others. Poles, as well as Germans, Czechs,
Slovaks, Hungarians, Romanians, Chinese, Japanese, and another hundred
or so nationalities grasp that principle very well for they themselves
use it all the time. If you mean outsiders such as Americans, well,
yes, but again, mainly because nothing like that was ever taught at US
schools or even at universities when anything about USSR was taught.
They taught that USSR and Russia were the same.

Not in India, not in Africa. Everything makes sense to all those
people since correct geography was taught with correct names of all
those countries..

No even they sometimes have problems understanding that- the Africans
from the central part down to S. Africa tend to look at race and
nationality as the same while still seeing things in tribal terms...
And In India you have several ethnic groups... tho all are "Indian".

In certain large cities it's easy to blend in... But as for writing
ethnicities it isn't required but can be to your advantage to do so.
This is because the got sets aside a lot of benefits just for
minorities- and by law it is illegal to discriminate against minorities

and if you wish to receive got contracts or aid you must prove that
you hire minorities. And although it may soon change- most
colleges/universities are required to admit a certain percentage of
minorities.

May I ask you where they are actually living? And while legally things
do seem to be OK, how are they doing socially? Can the guys get other
races to date them? I know Asian American girls are popular but not the
guys. Just what I have heard. How about friends? Do non-Asian people
come over? Do they hang out with all kinds of people?

Name a large town.. Here in Baltimore they do well socially- both of my
brother-in-laws married white women and have many white and black
friends (mainly white)
Last night at the Filipino-American Christmas party there were several
white couples (with the only connection being friens of a filipino) and
2 black families present.....
Both of my sons have lots of friends who are white or black and they
all mix freely.
So called hate crimes are just a way for special intrest groups to
squeeze money from the govt or indiviuals- actual crimes based on
racial hatred are really low- esp since in practice they do not use the
term when it applies to blacks attacking whites etc.... it's political
correctness run amok.

Err eh you do know that genetically they are the same???? Except for
those who've acquired Ainu blood (the original Japanese) yes some claim

that Koreans are hairier but that isn't true..

Actually, what I have always learned was the majority of the Japanese
were proto-Koreans mixed with proto-Malays + Ainus + Eskimos.

Eskimos??? Not likely! by proto malays are you refering to HAN???
Proto- Korean? Again, they are a han people... ainus yes, but not all
"Japanese" have that mixture... Malays are a long way away- filipnos
might fall into that group.

While the
Koreans are of really pure Mongolic stock. But while they are similar ,
very often it is still easy to tell. Again, I am sure of a Korean
person has lived in Japan for generations, his mannerism and even the
physical appearance would begin to 'approximate' the Japanese but I
would still think he would stand out to quite a few people. There are
just Japanese and Korean faces, when all is said and done. There are of
course, generic looking faces and races do overlap, but I just don't
know, some Koreans look, well...Korean.

Like I've said... experience and what others have said shows that
"looks" are the same- mannerisms? Well that's reaching 8 )

. they took in large
numbers of Koreans during the occupation and changed their names act to

Japanese ones so yes physically they are the same- in the past the only

way to tell them apart was by demanding that they pronounce certain
words that each couldn't say.
And I learned this from my oldest sister's Mother in Law and it was
confirmed by many others (Japanese and Korean) but, yes if you're
found to be non-Japanese they do discriminate.
I met the man who in theory is the King of Okinawa... he's a waiter at
a restaurant.
Few people realize he's not Japanese and he's very reluctant to talk
about it...

And also, you have many half-breeds and these never ever tell others
about non-Japanese mixture in their genes.
