Re: He, he, he, you can't beat success.

And finally she picked up something from former US President Clinton.

Please keep this going on for the next three weeks and the disgrunted
Filipinos will finally shut-up. And there will be "peace" in the Pinas.

"Salamat kay Lord," ang sabi ni Aling Gloria.

And Aling Gloria will have more time to "insert" new changes in the
proposed charter change.

A visibly elated President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo announced today that
the
country's gross domestic product (GDP) registered a 5.5 percent growth,
while the gross national product (GNP) grew 5.8 percent in the first
quarter
of 2006.

"I am pleased to announce the healthy growth of our economy in the first
quarter of 2006," the President said during the red carpet welcome for
Filipino mountaineers Heracleo Oracion, Erwin Emata and Romeo Garduce in
Malacañang this morning.

She attributed the growth in the economy to the "strong increases in
priority sectors such as manufacturing, construction, exports and private
consumption of Filipino families."

The Chief Executive said the good news was conveyed to her by the National
Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), which was holding its quarterly
press conference on the economic outlook of the country.

"Please allow me the opportunity to report to you the report of NEDA on
the
growth of our economy for the first quarter of 2006: a 5.5 percent growth
in
gross domestic product (GDP) and 5.8 percent in gross national product
(GNP)," the President said proudly.

She added that these strong increases have all contributed to the "solid
business and consumer confidence that remains despite tough decisions in
the
public interest."

She likened the strong showing of the economy to the Filipino mountaineers
who, despite numerous and seemingly insurmountable obstacles, conquered
Mt.
Everest, the world's highest peak, through true grit, perseverance and
unfailing commitment to succeed.

The President admitted that at the beginning of the year, the economy was
buffeted by various problems, notably the continuing increase in oil
prices
in the world market, the implementation of the Reformed Value Added Tax
(R-VAT) Law, and the weather phenomenon La Niña that wrought widespread
havoc on crops.

"Pero matatag pa rin ang ekonomiya (The economy has remained steadfast
despite the onslaught of all this)," the President said.

She added that with the continued growth of the economy, the government
now
has the funds to push on with its priorities, including the construction
of
infrastructure projects and other social service facilities.
