Anting-anting:
Everywhere I go, when I started wearing what my wife gave me I got wows from Mexicans as well as other Southeast Asians, everyone having different cultures, religion and background commenting on its "Power" in protecting the wearer, including the little red bag of "Medicine".
Sometimes I wonder, how this ended up to be like so, is anting-anting not just a Filipino thing?
Every culture has it, different objects, different names, same purpose. Superstition is universal and so is the desire for invincibility.
But watch out for the Crow's "little red bag" because it's not an amulet or a first aid kit. It's always full of fertility/stay-up powder. I learned that when one of those bags burst in a bar out west and everyone ran out like it was lit gunpowder. And I just had to ask why, ob korz.
Yes, what I noticed is the stares on what my anting-anting is, everyone agreed it is powerful, even my Thai bro-in-law.
