I know that Quebec and France are French speaking areas - my point is
if this took place in China, would you bring up issues against the
Chinese just because the kid didn't eat with chopsticks?
I mean, it's one thing to look at the article and understand that it's
about "a kid in a school" who can't eat with a fork and a knife.
It doesn't have to be a Filipino kid in a French school.
I wrote my post from the position of a person who understands the issue
to be one of table manners and social etiquette that's why I asked
where did the "French" bit come into this issue of table manners and
social etiquette.
It's either the child was following the right dining etiquette or not.
Why are you so adamant about bringing up the French, Eric? What is it
about the French you don't like? I live in France but I also live in
the Philippines and Hong Kong, I'm not French, I don't hold a French
nationality, I don't hold a French passport, I hold a Philippine one,
and am a Filipina, so frankly, I'm not really interested in defending
the French and France as that's not my nationality nor is it my
country. The Filipinos and the Philippines are who I feel strongly
close to and I've never bothered to actively post nor monitor
soc.culture.france the way I do soc.culture.filipino.
So ... again, what's your point?
