That is not the fault of the rich. Nor is it their obligation to help.

would you rather have millions of filipinos die horrible deaths
because they cant afford expensive hospitals ? millions of filipinos
wiped out financially because of catastrophic desease? you know plenty
of flips worked all their lives and get nothing much in their old
age. thats why plenty of flips going abroad. heck when my dad retired
from coa his retirement was only enough to cover airfair for
hiss family and he was a high ranking regional auditor. imagine the
lower ranking employees.

Is that the Commission on Audit?

In any case, the reason why you are in the states right now is because
you decided you should do something about it. Or, if someone made a
sacrifice to put you there, I am sure you have tried to repay it, so
that it wouldn't be a sacrifice.

But would you, since you are earning dollars right now, have an
obligation to help others for the simple reason that they are poor?
Well if you could do that, you must be Bill Gates. There are more than
70% of Filipinos who are poor.

But if you had the opportunity to help some people, would you rather
not help only those whom YOU believe deserve to be helped? So that YOU
decide what to do with YOUR money? Rather than simply helping the
poorest of them, help those who can pay you back (in money, or some
other value). Don't think of it as charity, but rather as an
investment in human resources. That way when you "feed them" the money
does not disappear into their bellys, but grows and produces more
money.

However, that is not to say that they are necessarily valueless to the
rich. And why wouldn't a rich man help a poor man whom he know has the
values, the work ethic, and the ability to pay him back with money or
services.
as i said you willing to have flips dying on the streets like in
calcutta india or whatever they call it now.?

Production must always precede distribution, or else there will be
nothing to distribute. Yes people may go hungry. Should others
"starve" in sympathy? Do you want the entire RP to starve?

If you consider the rich and able as obligated to sacrifice themselves
for the needy, very soon there will be no rich and able people. If a
society caters to the needy instead of to the able, then very soon it
will be a society of needy people, and the able ones will disappear.

Think of a drowning man pulling down his rescuer with him.

When people stop being charitable and instead exchange value for value,
instead of the economy losing money, money (in other words,
productivity) increases.
life is not about being cold and cruel. do what you propose and you
would have people getting pitchforks and torches againts the rich
like a bastille in france.

That certainly can happen. And when it does, what will the poor do?
If they kill all the rich people will they then become rich?

That is how selfishness works.
that is what the poor will do if they have nothing to lose

Yes like thieves.

And that is also why I think public education should be supported. Not
because those who cannot pay for it need it, but because those who do
pay for it will likewise benefit. I do not want to live in a society
of thieving idiots.
it is already a society ruled by thieving idiots. look around .

Well there might be plenty of thieving idiots. However, we are not in
agreement as to who are the thieves.

The private sector cannot be corrupt because it operates on the system
of free will. You do not have to pay it money. You choose to because
it has created value for you. Because it is to your benefit (and not
to your sacrifice).
the private sector in the pinas is not as honest as say canada . it is
more similar to say russia or china. people of power collude with
people in big business to manipulate and dirty the system so only they
come out on top. lot of hanky panky and back room dealing going on
that does not benefit the public much .

I'm not talking about crony capitalism here. And that is why there is
something wrong with the Philippine system. Take note that crony
capitalism happened not because of laissez faire, but because of the
power of the government.

In contrast a government will compel you to pay taxes, or else they
will put you in jail. The government will compel you to contribute to
GSIS or SSS and you will have no choice in the matter, so they can be
the crappiest systems in the world.
how many average flips have 401 k or have retirement pensions from
private industry ? take away sss or gsis and you bring plenty of
flips into financial ruin especially when they get old and sick . its
not the perfect lifejacket but at least its something. something is
better than nothing

You have no right to decide for them if SSS or GSIS is good for them.
Let them decide, and they will in fact get better services from these
institutions.

.
Ayn Rand by the way, did not list education as one of the
responsibilities of government. I'm on my own in that view.

some of the neo con in the us dont like public education either. but
they dont realiz how expensive private education is for the average
people . in my daughters school right now 1 to 7 grade is like 10 000
a year. so off to public school she goes.

Like I said, no argument about that.
